Dandelions

Dandelions

Close your eyes and make a wish

exhale, slow and steady

a little puff of hope

It might float a while before it lands

even then you never know if it will stick

but there are fields full of dandelions out there

wishes and dreams that take root and grow

Some people pull them up like weeds

and toss them aside

but they keep coming back

all yellow and hopeful

growing where you least expect them

They turn white with waiting

holding onto their seeds of possibility

until with a puff of hope,

they fly.
